Latvia's GDP up 2.1% in second quarter – flash estimate

According to the Central Statistical Bureau's flash estimate, published on July 30, Latvia's seasonally and calendar non-adjusted gross domestic product increased by 2.1% in the second quarter of 2019 as compared to the second quarter of 2018.

In contrast, Latvia’s seasonally and calendar adjusted GDP increased by 3% over said period.

Compared to the previous quarter, Latvia’s seasonally and calendar adjusted GDP rose by 0.8%.

CSB reported that the “main upward pressure on the GDP was exerted by the volume increase in services, including rise of 2.5 % in retail trade.” 

Expanded data on Latvia's GDP growth in the second quarter of 2019 will be released on August 30.
