Rīga's housing manager has sent out faulty bills by mistake

Take note – story published 1 year ago

The shared electricity bills (electricity for lighting of apartment building stairs, hallways, front doors) for December sent by Rīga's biggest housing manager Rīgas namu pārvaldnieks (RNP) are higher than they are supposed to be, RNP said on January 17.

The error will be rectified next month by deducing the difference, said RNP and apologized for the inconvenience.

The situation occurred as the electricity service provider had sent erroneous information on the rates. Since information was received already after the bills were sent to customers, an adjustment for shared electricity will be made on the bill next month, RNP said.

For apartment owners of houses for which individual electricity is supplied through the manager, a new adjusted bill will be prepared this month.

All other customers will get an included discount on the bill next month, reducing next month's shared electricity cost by the difference of the erroneous volume. For most customers, the error rate varies between €2 and €3.

RNP noted that a much higher amount of adjustment is for homes whose residents also receive an individual electricity service provided by Tet, which also provides shared electricity to RNP customers, through the manager. The adjusted electricity charge in December is EUR 0.26391/kWh, service fee EUR 0,01314/kWh excluding VAT.

Residents of homes who also receive individual electricity services through the manager will receive correct tariff bills as early as this week.
