Stores located in malls can open providing external entrance

The government decided Tuesday May 18 that work can be resumed by shops in malls that have entrances from the street.

The changes to the rules on epidemiological security measures to limit the spread of Covid-19 infection require the provision of one entrance from the street. Customers cannot enter the mall further.

"With separate external access (entrance), understandable visitor access from an external open area (e.g. street, courtyard, etc.). The organization of visitor traffic at the abovementioned trading venue shall not be permitted through any additional entry or exit, including any further entry of the visitor to the shopping center," indicates the amendment annotation.

The decision will enter into force after the publication of the relevant amendments in the “Latvijas Vēstnesis”, scheduled for May 20.

Other shops inside major malls remain closed.
