Unemployment rate unchanged in Latvia for October

Central Statistical Bureau (CSB) estimatespublished November 17 show that in October 2023 the actual unemployment rate in Latvia was 6.3 % and it has not changed over the month. Over the year the actual unemployment rate fell by 0.4 percentage points.

The unemployment rate among women fell by 0.1 percentage points (down to 5.3 %) and among men did not change (7.3 %).

The unemployment rate registered with the State Employment Agency (SEA) was 5.3 %. It has not changed over the month and reduced by 0.4 percentage points over the year.

The results aligned with data published 24 hours earlier which said that in Q3 2023 Latvia had an unemployment rate of 6.5 %. Over the quarter it grew by 0.1 percentage points and over the year reduced by 0.4 percentage points.

In Q2 2023 Latvian unemployment rate (6.4 %) was 0.6 percentage points above the EU average (5.8 %). In Q3 2023 it was lower than in Estonia (7.3 %) and higher than in Lithuania (6.2 %).
