Over the year however, the actual unemployment rate has increased by 0.6 percentage points.
The unemployment rate for women fell by 0.2 percentage points to 6.4 % and for men by 0.4 percentage points to 7.4 %.
The unemployment rate registered with the State Employment Agency (SEA) was 5.4 %. It has reduced by 0.4 percentage points over the month and by 0.3 percentage points over the year.
In April 2024 there were 65.4 thousand unemployed persons in Latvia (30.5 thousand women and 34.9 thousand men), which is 2.9 thousand fewer than a month ago and 5.5 thousand more than a year ago. During the month, the number of unemployed men reduced by 1.8 thousand and of unemployed women by 1.1 thousand.
