Actual unemployment rate was 7.9% in November in Latvia

Data of the Labour Force Survey (LFS) published December 17 by the Central Statistical Bureau (CSB) show that in November 2020 actual unemployment rate comprised 7.9%.

This is 0.2 percentage points more than in October. 

Unemployment rate registered by the State Employment Agency (NVA) accounted for 7.4% and compared to October, it has not changed. Unemployment rate increase may be observed when comparing the data to the November of the previous year – of 2.1 percentage points in actual unemployment rate and 1.6 percentage points in registered unemployment rate.

In November 2020 there were 76.6 thousand unemployed in Latvia, which is 1.7 thousand more than in October and 20.7 thousand more than in the respective period of the previous year. During the last 9 months since the first declaration of state of emergency, compared to the actual monthly unemployment data of February 2020, the number of unemployed people has increased by 5 thousand.
