In the private sector there were 15.6 thousand and in the public sector 10.3 thousand job vacancies. Over the year, the job vacancy number in the private sector grew by 0.6 thousand or 4.1 % and in the public sector by 1.8 thousand or 21.0 %.
Out of all jobs available in Latvia (both occupied and vacant), 2.8 % positions were vacant, of which 3.5 % were in the public sector and 2.5 % in the private sector.
Compared to the 3rd quarter of 2021, in the 3rd quarter of 2022 average number of occupied posts in the country went up by 17.9 thousand or 2.0 %. In private sector it grew by 14.2 thousand or 2.4 % and in public sector by 2.9 thousand or 1.0 %.
In terms of major occupational groups, the largest share of job vacancies was recorded among technicians and associate professionals (4.4 %), craft and related trades workers (4.2 %), as well as elementary occupations (3.0 %).
As usual, the regional breakdown of the data shows that in the 3rd quarter of 2022 the largest share of job vacancies was registered in Riga (3.6 % or 18.3 thousand vacancies) and the smallest in Kurzeme (1.4 % and 1.1 thousand). In Pierīga region 2.5 % of jobs or 3.6 thousand positions were vacant, in Zemgale 1.8 % or 1.3 thousand, and in Vidzeme 1.5 % or 0.9 thousand.
Among the three Baltic states, the greatest proportion of job vacancies was recorded in Latvia – 2.8 %, followed by Estonia with 2.1 % and Lithuania with 1.9 %.
In the 3rd quarter of 2022, compared to the corresponding period of 2021, the sharpest rise in job vacancy number – of 15.0 % – was observed in Estonia; in Latvia it grew by 10.2 % and in Lithuania dropped by 1.9 %.
