Unemployment rate down slightly in June in Latvia

Data of the Labor Force Survey published July 20 by the Central Statistical Bureau (CSB) show that in June 2021 actual unemployment rate comprised 7.8%, which is 0.1 percentage points less than in May.

 The unemployment rate for females increased by 0.1 percentage points to 7.4% in June, but for males, it remained unchanged at 8.3 %. The unemployment rate registered by the State Employment Agency (NVA) accounted for 7.4% which is 0.2 percentage points less than in May. Unemployment rate decrease may be observed when comparing the data to the June of the previous year – of 0.8 percentage points in the actual unemployment rate and 1.2 percentage points in the registered unemployment rate.

In June 2021 there were 72.6 thousand unemployed persons in Latvia (33.5 thousand females and 39.1 thousand males). The total number of unemployed persons has not changed since May, but the number of unemployed females has increased by 0.1 thousand and the number of unemployed males has decreased by 0.2 thousand.
