"Visa applications will be accepted from family members (spouses, parents, grandparents, children, grandchildren, and dependent persons) of the nationals – citizens and non-citizens – of Latvia, family members of the nationals of the European Union, the European Economic Area, or the Swiss Confederation, as well as persons whose entry is related to humanitarian considerations (e.g., a serious illness of a relative or attending a funeral, or there being a threat to the person’s safety or life)," says the Ministry's statement.
Each visa application will be assessed on a case-by-case basis.
The acceptance of all visa applications from the citizens of Russia at the Latvian missions abroad was suspended in response to the military mutiny in Russia.
