Latvia suspends all visa applications from Russia

Due to the unpredictable development of Russian internal political events, the acceptance of all types of visa applications from Russian citizens has been suspended from June 26, 2023, at Latvian diplomatic and consular missions abroad, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced Monday.

Visa applications accepted and processed before June 25 inclusive will be examined.

In the case of additional questions, the Ministry recommends contacting the relevant Latvian representation abroad.

The Minister for Foreign Affairs Edgars Rinkēvičs said over the weekend that Russian citizens should not be given humanitarian or other visas.

The issue of Latvian visas to Russian citizens was already suspended on February 24, 2022, when Russia launched a large-scale invasion of Ukraine but until now there was an exception to cases of special humanitarian concern.
