640 kilometers of road to be repaired this year in Latvia

The national road network will undergo construction work at the length of 640 kilometers (km) this year. Most jobs will take place on regional roads, Latvian State Roads (LVC) said April 3.

A total of 89 worksites are planned for this working season. 13 of these contracts have already been concluded, another 50 sites are in the procurement process, while around 30 sites are in the development phase and procurement is scheduled to be announced by the end of June.

Jobs are also planned on 17 state bridges.

The construction season on the national road network is expected to resume in the second half of April.

The total amount of funding available for jobs is around €290 million.

Most of the funding, some €220 million, is from the State budget and €13 million from the European Cohesion Fund, while another €55 million from the Recovery Fund.
