Latvia's roadworks map of 2024 published

State LLC Latvian State Roads (LVC) has published a map of the construction work planned for this year on the national road network. This year, various types of works are planned in about 450 kilometers of state roads and 12 bridges, Latvian Television's April 8 morning newscast reports.

The most extensive works will take place on regional roads – 220 kilometers – and on the local roads – 159 kilometers. Works will take place on the country's main roads in 71 kilometers, LVC reported.

Pedestrian and cyclist infrastructure of 24 kilometers in total will also be developed. Five bridges will be renovated, another seven demolished and rebuilt.


 The largest construction objects this season will be the Vidzemes Highway (A2) section from Melturi to Bērzkrogs, where the reconstruction started last year will be completed, as well as the work started last summer will continue on the Rīga bypass (A5) in Babīte. At both stages, drivers will also have to face traffic restrictions this year.

On regional roads, major works are planned in Kurzeme – on the road Ventspils-Dundaga (P77) from Ventspils to Auce, Vidzeme – on the road Smiltene-Valka (P24) from Smiltene until the turn to Mēri. In Salacgrīva, , a new bridge over the Salaca will be built this year.

In total, capital injections of EUR 163 million are planned in the national road network this year, of which EUR 47 million is the estimated financing of the EU recovery and resilience instrument.
