New bus service to run between Rīga airport and city center

A new shuttle between Rīga airport and the city center will be provided by the international passenger carrier Lux Express, Aldis Ķibēns, head of Baltic business development of Lux Express, confirmed to LETA.

He mentioned that transportation could start this year before the summer.

Ķibēns said the shuttle will be faster and with fewer stops compared to the public bus no. 22. “The timetable will be tailored to the real passenger flow at the airport,” he said.

Details of bus route stops and times will be announced by the Lux Express in the coming weeks.

Previously, Riga Airport Board Chair Laila Odiņa said the destination of the route could be, for example, Riga International bus station. A fixed fare could be set for the trip, while trips could take place hourly or once every two hours.

Lux Express Latvia was registered in 1994 and its share capital is EUR 193 404. The company had a turnover of one million euros in 2022 and losses of 73,284 euros, according to “Firmas.lv.” The sole owner of Lux Express Latvia is Estonia's Lux Express Estonia.
