New train removed from tracks due to 'technical issues'

Technical deficiencies have been detected in one of the three new electric trains assigned to passenger transport last week, thus passenger transport is currently being carried out with two new electric trains, LETA reported Monday.

For one train composition, a failure in the activity of the power collector has been detected, which experts of the supplier are currently working on.

According to the contract concluded with the Czech company “Skoda Vagonka”, electric trains have a guarantee period up to a distance of 340,000 kilometers, but not longer than 30 months. On the other hand, in addition to the general duration of the guarantee, minimum warranty periods have been set for certain components.

The supplier is obliged to rectify, at his own expense, any defects found during the warranty and to compensate for any damage caused by the defects,

Three new electric trains in the direction of Tukums, Aizkraukle and Skulte started running in Latvia on Friday, December 15, and also in the direction of Jelgava on December 16. Currently the passenger train operator Vivi owns three electric trains but a total of 20 have been delivered to Latvia, and the remaining 12 will be delivered next year.
