Roadworks take place across Latvia

62 sections of national roads are undergoing construction work and traffic restrictions have been introduced. The largest number of restrictions is on regional roads, Latvian State Roads (LVC)" said.

LVC also warned that traffic may be particularly slow on Friday afternoon in the Baltic Sea coastal directions. To avoid extra time on the road, it is advised to plan journeys outside the usual rush hours.

Major traffic restrictions on national regional roads:

  • Ventspils-Kolka (P124) from Ventspils to Liepene - six traffic lights, speed limits 70 and 50 km/h. Estimated crossing time 45 minutes;
  • Kocēni-Limbaži-Tūja (P11) motorway from Umurga to Iesalkāja - three temporary traffic lights. Speed limit 70 and 50 km/h. Estimated crossing time 45 minutes;
  • Inčukalns-Ropaži-Ikšķile (P10) section from Kangari to Tīnūži, up to three sections with priority signs, speed limits 70 and 50 km/h. Estimated crossing time 42 minutes;
  • Umurga-Cēsis-Līvi (P14) motorway from Stalbe (A3) to Cēsis - four traffic lights, speed limits 70 and 50 km/h. Estimated crossing time 40 minutes;
  • Ventspils-Dundaga (P77) from the junction with the regional road Ventspils-Kolka (P124) to the forest roads Riestu dambis and Otrais riestu dambis - four traffic lights, speed limit 70 and 50 km/h. Estimated crossing time 35 minutes;
  • on the motorway Kandava-Saldus (P109) from Zemīte to Kapukrogs, traffic is controlled by traffic lights in five sections and a local detour is introduced. Speed limited to 50 km/h, estimated crossing time 30-35 minutes;
  • on the section of the motorway Alūksne-Ape (P39) near Alsviķi, two traffic lights. Speed limits 30, 50 and 70 km/h. Estimated crossing time half an hour;
  • section of the motorway Skrunda-Aizpute (P117) towards Valtaiki after Kazdanga, three traffic lights, speed limit 50 km/h. Estimated crossing time half an hour;
  • Smiltene-Valka (P24) motorway from Smiltene to Blome-Birzuļi-Palsmane (V243), four sections with traffic lights, speed limit 70 and 50 km/h. Estimated crossing time 25 minutes.
  • Repair works are also in progress on the Vidzeme motorway (A2) from the turn-off to Cesis (P20) to Ridzene, six sections with traffic lights, speed limits 70 and 50 km/h. Estimated crossing time 45 minutes;
