Three motorcyclists have been killed and 14 injured this year even before the official motorcycle season which is supposed to begin this weekend, CSDD said.
The CSDD said that most of these incidents are still under investigation, but the information currently available shows errors on the part of car drivers as well as mistakes and negligence by motorcyclists themselves.
"The fact that many started the motorcycle season before the road maintenance had managed to carry out the spring repairs has played a part. The holes in the roads were a contributing factor to several falls. Nor has the road surface been cleaned up from the winter mud, nor have the maintenance workers managed to collect the sand scattered in the winter. In some cases, the motorcyclists were betrayed by their own skill, which was a little rusty after the winter period," the CSDD listed the reasons.
In order to avoid this situation, each motorcyclist should pay attention to a number of essential safety factors and check the equipment and the technical state of the motorcycle, said the Directorate.
