Police to enhance presence on Gogoļa Street, Rīga

Take note – story published 1 year ago

In the vicinity of Rīga Central Station, on Gogoļa Street, due to construction works linked to the “Rail Baltica” project, passenger car traffic is closed, but many drivers appear to be ignoring the restrictions. As a result, the State Police will increase traffic monitoring in the area as of Monday, March 27, Latvian Radio reported.

Since March 11, vehicular traffic in the vicinity of the Central Station has been closed on Gogoļa Street from 13. Janvāra Street to Turgeņeva Street. However, a lot of drivers have either not noticed the signs informing them of the change or do not comply with the rules and drive through, disturbing the construction works.

The State Police from now on will use a car equipped with a 360-degree camera system to monitor traffic on this part of Gogoļa Street. Violators will be punished – they will receive a notice similar to a violation captured by a speed camera.

Traffic on this street is allowed for public transport and for access to private property only.
