At the train depo in Rīga, one of the newly purchased electric trains has got a graffiti makeover before the train has even been released for use, State Police said March 29.

This was confirmed to newswire LETA by JSC Passenger Rail (PV) head of communication and marketing, Sigita Zviedre.

These trains are the property of Škoda Vagonka, and the safety of the trains is ensured by Škoda until the trains are transferred to PV.

Škoda Vagonka spokesman Jan Švekla told LETA that the train had been "decorated" during the night from Sunday to Monday, March 27. Škoda Vagonka is in contact with the Latvian police.

The area where trains are located is guarded by a security company and Škoda Vagonka has requested that the security be reinforced.

Nine out of 23 new electric train compositions have been delivered to Latvia so far. They could start carrying passengers at the end of the summer.
