Free 'blizzard tickets' for drivers on Monday and Tuesday in Rīga

Take note – story published 1 year ago

Due to the upcoming blizzard, Rīga city public transport will be free for drivers on Monday and Tuesday – December 12 and 13 for safety and traffic organization reasons, said the Rīga City Council Communications Board.

A vehicle registration certificate will be valid to receive a free 'blizzard ride'.

Jānis Vaivods, director of the Transport Department of Riga City Council, explained that a smaller number of cars in the streets will reduce public transport delays.

The ticket may be used by any adult person. Driver's license is not required to be present. The registration certificate will attest that the vehicle in question is not in traffic at the time, which is the intention of the municipality.

The further introduction of blizzard tickets will be decided according to the weather forecasts.
