The resumption of international passenger transport will be decided by the government at its meeting tomorrow, May 7.
"I hope that we will be able to agree with neighboring Estonia and Lithuania on conditions to allow our citizens move freely within the territory of these states without the requirement of 14-day self-isolation. We are currently working with the Ministry of Health so that everything is done right," said Linkaits.
The government plans to decide on changes to the rules on passenger movement at tomorrow's meeting. Passengers will have to comply with safety restrictions, including wearing protective equipment in public transport. Linkaits pointed out that it would be impossible to immediately return to previous modes of operation.
"Clearly, there will be more crowding, so we asked the Ministry of Health how to act in this situation. They recommended wearing hygienic face masks... These would not necessarily have to be medical masks; they could also be handmade and decorative, worn for hygiene purposes," Linkaits said.
He added that, according to the Ministry of Health, there are enough masks for everyone to purchase.
