Latvian autumn is tricky, road authority reminds drivers

Take note – story published 2 years ago

As autumn weather conditions persist, drivers have to count on worse visibility as it is darker, rainier and foggier, Latvian State Roads (LVC) said October 14.

Similarly, fallen leaves and rain may impair the adhesion of tires with road surfaces, making driving conditions more difficult. Meteorologists' forecasts also suggest that in the coming nights, air temperatures will fall below zero, which can affect the condition of road coverage in the morning hours.

Therefore, LVC calls on drivers to count on the effects of the weather on driving conditions and to adapt their driving habits to it: to be especially careful in twilight, to check the operation of the car lights, and to count on slippery roads.

As reported earlier, the winter maximum speed limit in Latvia is 90 kilometers per hour.

43 sections of the national road network are undergoing construction work. The map of roadworks is available on the LVC website.
