Latvian Post: Foreign shipments might still be delayed

Take note – story published 3 years ago

Due to COVID-19 limiting measures, exchange of mail with foreign states is still delayed, said Latvian Post (LP) in a news release on June 1.

Any delivery deadlines and quality standards at international level are not in force. Deliveries are hampered by shipping congestion and queues at international transit airports.

LP accepts consignments for dispatch to destinations abroad and sends them out as soon as a suitable mode of transport and route to the country is found.

Customers are invited to be understanding and to count on longer delivery times for mailings, which cannot always be determined precisely.

The majority of international mail shipments are delivered by passenger aircraft, where the volume of mail currently loaded is insufficient, and therefore other types of delivery routes are sought, including land, water and rail.

Delay applies to all types of mailings. Express shipments are delivered as a priority but there is also potential delay in this category.

LP has created a specific FAQ regarding the state of emergency on their website.

LP Customer Support Center can be reached by calling 27008001, 67008001, [email protected] or on Twitter or Facebook.
