Midsummer public transport will NOT be free of charge in Rīga

In a break with usual practice, public transport in Rīga will not be free of charge over the Midsummer holiday period.

"In order not to encourage crowding and to comply with the national restrictions on the spread of COVID-19, a decision was taken on 11 June by the interim administration of the Riga City Council after consultations with epidemiologists," a statement from the municipality said.

Public transport

From Saturday, June 20, to Wednesday, June 24, public transport (buses, trolleybuses, trams) in the capital will run according to a holiday schedule. When planning a trip, “Rīgas satiksme” (Rīga's transport) invites you to check the current information at www.rigassatiksme.lv.

From 20 June to 24 June, public transport tickets will be valid. However, weekday-only tickets will not be valid during this holiday period.

On Saturday, June 20, and Monday, June 22, public transport customer service centers will be open from 10:00 to 16:00, except for the customer service center at 49/53 Brīvības Street, which will be closed.

On June 21, the working hours of the customer service center at Spīķeru Street 1 will be from 10:00 to 16:00, all other customer service centers will be closed.

On June 23 and 24, all customer service centers will be closed.

Parking lots

On Monday, June 22, the paid parking in the territory of Old Riga (zone R) will run from 6:00 to 24:00, in Vecāķi (zone V) it will work from 8:00 to 20:00 according to the valid tariffs. Other paid parking lots of Riga municipality, which are serviced by "Rīgas satiksme", will be available free of charge on June 22.

On public holidays, on June 23 and 24, paid parking lots of Riga municipality, which are serviced by "Rīgas satiksme", will be available free of charge.

The underground parking lot at 5a Krišjāņa Valdemāra Street near the Congress House during the pre-Christmas and festive seasons will work according to its own tariffs.
