On Wednesday, March 8, an incident occurred at Rīga Airport in which a plane slid off the runway due to bad weather conditions, the airBaltic airline confirmed.

An airBalic A220-300 (flight BT694), which was returning to Rīga from Paris, slid off the runway after landing at 23.17. All 89 passengers and seven crew members were quickly taken from the aircraft to the terminal and no-one was injured.

The runway was closed for 3 hours and airBaltic diverted four other incoming flights to Vilnius and Tallinn.
