Rīga Airport asks passengers to arrive in plenty of time

Following the lifting of the Covid-19 restrictions, the number of passengers at Rīga International airport has increased, so it is recommended that travelers arrive at the airport in plenty of time, airport representatives told Latvian Radio on May 6.

Laura Kulakova, head of communications of Riga airport, said that the airport is gradually returning to normal working conditions and that the number of passengers is increasing, so it is desirable to arrive at the airport in time as the queues can be longer than they have been in the past two years.

Kulakova drew attention to changes in the surrounding area of the airport due to the construction work of Rail Baltica: “The station has started construction in full swing. New driveways are currently being built, there are some restrictions limits from time to time – one lane closes, another closes, a detour has to be made, so traffic slows down."

The availability of parking facilities and the location of the public transport stop could change occasionally. These changes would be posted on the airport's social media.

The requirement to wear a mask or respirator at the airport has been waived but is recommended. The airport still recommends keeping distance from other passengers.

“Not only Covid-19, but any disease is spreading more quickly in close contact, it's for our own safety. There is enough space in the terminal, [travelers] can distance and be comfortable and safe,” Kulakova said.

Passengers should check the recommended and required times for arrival and check-in to avoid the possibility of missing their flights.
