Rīga Airport revival still a long haul

Data compiled by the Central Statistical Bureau and published February 22 show that in January 2022, 246.5 thousand passengers were received at Riga International Airport, which is 4.9 times more than in January 2021 but 18.6 % less than in December 2021. 

The number of passengers was still 53.1 % down compared to pre-pandemic period in January 2020 when 525.3 thousand passengers were received at Riga Airport.

The total number of flights in January was 3 886, that is 2.3 times more than a year ago.

In January 2022, the total volume of cargo and post loaded and unloaded comprised 2.5 thousand tonnes - an increase of 28.2 % compared to January 2021, and a decrease of 33.9 % compared to December 2021.

In January, the airport unloaded 1.6 thousand tonnes of cargo and mail, which is 44 % more than in January 2021, and loaded 0.9 thousand tonnes, which is 6.4 % more than in January 2021.
