Rīga Airport's August figures not quite at pre-pandemic level yet

According to data published on September 22 by the Central Statistical Bureau, in August 2022 passenger turnover at Riga International Airport comprised 573.2 thousand passengers, which is 1.5 times more than in August 2021 and 5.4 % less than in the previous month.

Compared to August 2019, the number of passengers at airport was 31.1 % smaller.

The total number of flights in August was 5,113, which is 4.8 % more than a year ago.

In the eight months of this year, the number of passengers at the airport comprised 3 400.8 thousand passengers, which is 2 306.9 thousand or 3.1 times more than in the corresponding period of 2021 and two times more than in the eight months of 2020. However, that is 34.9 % less than in the corresponding period of 2019.

In August 2022 the total volume of cargo and mail loaded and unloaded1 comprised 1.6 thousand tonnes, which is 1 % less than in July and 21.3 % less than in August 2021.

In August 0.6 thousand tonnes of cargo and mail were unloaded, which is 46.6 % less than in August 2021, but 0.9 thousand tonnes of cargo and mail were loaded, which is 14.6 % more.
