Rīga Airport's February figures show drop in passenger numbers

According to the data published March 22 by the Central Statistical Bureau, in February 2022, passenger turnover at Riga International Airport comprised 226.9 thousand passengers.

This is 9.4 times more than in February 2021 and 7.9 % less than in January 2022. Compared to February 2020 before the pandemic, when there were 489.7 thousand passengers, the drop was 53.7%.

The total number of flights in February was 3,294, which is 2.9 times more than a year ago.

In two months of this year, the number of passengers at the airport comprised 473.4 thousand passengers, which is 398.9 thousand or 6.4 times more than in the corresponding period of 2021 and 541.6 thousand or 53.4% less than in two months of 2020.

In February 2022 the total volume of cargo and mail loaded and unloaded1 comprised 2.5 thousand tonnes, which is the same as in January and 65.9 % more than in February 2021.

In February 1.6 thousand tonnes of cargo and mail were unloaded, which is 62.1 % more than in February 2021, and 0.9 thousand tonnes of cargo and mail were loaded, which is 72.8 % more.
