Rīga-Liepāja flights to take off again

Starting Monday, July 13, the national airline airBaltic will renew scheduled flights between Riga and Liepāja four times a week, Kurzeme Regional TV reported on July 10.

For the time being, 40 tickets have been purchased for the first flight.

Due to the spread of COVID-19, the number of flights on the Riga–Liepāja route was reduced significantly in March and stopped altogether for some time, but it has been decided to resume scheduled passenger services in Latvia's only domestic flight.

With August, airBaltic will have more connections from Riga, and it promotes the Liepāja – Riga route, as there already are connections in place.

“The most popular destinations passengers go from Liepāja are Scandinavia, such as Stockholm, Billund, Copenhagen and Oslo, as well as Western Europe, Russia and Ukraine," said Didzis Rudmanis, corporate communications representative for airBaltic.

Many Liepājas entrepreneurs are looking forward to resuming scheduled flights, as they are used to travel to Riga for work and the flights ensure convenient trips.

“[The flight] is a valuable tool for both the business sector and visitors to get to Liepaja, a promotional tool, “said Inta Šorina, Head of Liepājas Regional Tourism Information Office.
