Take note – story published 1 year ago

Construction works of Vidzeme Highway (A2) is starting in the section from the former restaurant Sēnīte to Sigulda (kilometers 39.44 to 46.30), which will continue until the autumn of next year, according to Latvian State Roads' (LVC) information of August 1.

During the construction work, traffic will be closed in one direction and organized along the other one, with a single lane each direction. Drivers will have to count on slower traffic at this stage.

The rebuilding will start with the right-side road towards Sigulda. In the first weeks of August, the necessary work will be carried out to switch traffic to the left-side road.  The speed limit for the construction phase of road A2 will be 50 and 70 km/h.

According to LVC, road surface has deteriorated significantly. Improvements have been made in some places in 1999 and 2008, but mostly nothing has been done since the road was built in the 1980s.

The jobs are scheduled to be completed in autumn 2023.
