As previously reported, on March 5 Sanita Upleja-Jegermane, a member of the Council of Public Electronic Media (SEPLP), Latvia's public media regulator, announced she would step down from the role.
According to an article she penned for the 'Delfi' portal to anounce her resignation, it was a matter of principle "based on my professional and life experience and sense of responsibility".
However, after meeting with President Edgars Rinkēvičs March 14, she confirmed on social media that she was withdrawing her resignation and would continue in post until the end of her term of office.

Exchanging messages on social media, President Rinvkēvičs said "I fully support Sanita, thank you for your willingness to continue the work!" and promised to hold discussions about the role of public media at Rīga Castle in April.
