WATCH: Rīga Security Forum discussion on Gender Roles in the West (and in the Rest), Part I

For the fifth consecutive year, the Latvian Institute of International Affairs (LIIA) has organized the Riga Security Forum, bringing together international experts on security, politics, technology, education, and defense in a series of thought-provoking videocasts and podcasts exploring global issues.

This time the title is: 'Gender Roles in the West (and in the Rest)', Part One of a two-part podcast.

According to the organizers: "We again are asking the question - can we maintain international peace and security and ensure that women and children and their interests are adequately protected?"

Participants are Dr. Stéfanie von Hlatky, Canada Research Chair in Gender, Security and the Armed Forces & Professor of Political Studies at Queen's University, and Elizabete Elina Vizgunova-Vikmane, Researcher at the Latvian Institute of International Affairs.

A new audio and video episode has been published weekly in English and Latvian over two months, from October 31 to the end of December.

As well as here on LSM, the discussions are freely available on the project website, www.rigasecurityforum.liia.lv, on the LIIA social media accounts, and on the Apple and Spotify platforms.
