On September 21, during the 78th session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Latvia, Krišjānis Kariņš, met with representatives from Jewish organisations in the United States.

At the meeting, the former Prime Minister and current Minister of Foreign Affairs  – who himself has dual U.S.-Latvian citizenship – "underlined the close bilateral and transatlantic links between Latvia and the United States; he noted in particular the contribution by the U.S. to the security of the Baltic States," according to a release from the ministry.

"The Foreign Minister also accented Latvia’s perspective on the war waged by Russia against Ukraine and the need to continue providing support to Ukraine in its fight against the aggressor Russia."

Kariņš met with the American Jewish Committee (AJC) and according to the Ministry: "The conversation partners highlighted the excellent cooperation between the state of Latvia, Latvia’s Jewish community and Jewish organisations in the U.S. on a wide spectrum of topics – cooperation that will be further pursued in the future."
