The country's President, Edgars Rinkēvičs, said in a statement on social networks that Sweden's admission to the alliance would greatly improve the security of both regional and allied countries.
“The Baltic Sea is now the NATO lake,” the President wrote.

Prime Minister Evika Siliņa (New Unity) said that security and defense of Latvia, NATO and Baltic Sea region will benefit from this step.

Hungary's Parliament ratified Sweden's accession to NATO on Monday.
In response to Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine, Sweden and Finland applied for NATO membership in May 2022. Turkey and Hungary were delayed in ratifying both countries.
Finland joined NATO last April.
