From 2.30 pm to 3.00 pm, the Ministers of Defense will take part in a discussion organized by the Latvian Transatlantic Organization, which will discuss Russian-Belarusian military exercises "Zapad 2021", hybrid threats, as well as co-operation between NATO and EU member states in the Baltic Sea region. They will also observe the National Armed Forces military exercise “Namejs 2021”, as well as discuss regional security issues, with the increasingly dangerous antics of the Lukashenko regime in Belarus high on the agenda.
Before that, the Foreign Ministers will have a joint press conference (viewable via this link).
"The officials will share views on security policy challenges in the region, the decisions made at the meeting of NATO Heads of State and Government in Brussels this past June, and the development of NATO’s next Strategic Concept. The issues of NATO partnerships will also be discussed," the Latvian Ministry of Foreign Affairs said ahead of the meeting.
The Baltics-plus-Poland format has been building momentum for some time already, with the four EU member states presenting a united front on many issues.
