Latvian diplomat, scientist Rolands Rikards passes away

Latvian scientist, one of the authors of the Independence Declaration of May 4, 1990, former member of the Supreme Council Rolands Rikards has died at the age of 79, President Egils Levits said on Twitter.

 

Levits said: “Prof. Rolands Rikards, former member of the Supreme Council, one of the four initial authors of the Declaration of Independence of May 4, 1990, a close associate, has left us. He has made an invaluable contribution to the reconstruction of the state of Latvia with his clear view of State. Deepest condolences to the family.”
