Lukashenko sacks Belarusian ambassador to Latvia

Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko signed an order on Wednesday for the dismissal of the Belarusian ambassador to Latvia, Vasily Markovich  (Маркович Василий Михайлович), Latvian Television reported September 16.

The Belarusian ambassador has been dismissed from his duties and deprived of his diplomatic rank. 

Vasily Markovich has been dismissed in connection with “inappropriate performance of duties”. This is reported by the Belarusian news agency Belta, referring to the presidential press service.

Markovich became Belarusian ambassador to Latvia in September 2018. He has been the Belarusian ambassador to the Czech Republic before, and from 1998 to 2002, Belarus General Consul General in Daugavpils.

In addition, Lukashenko has removed the diplomatic ranking of Pavel Pavlovich Latushko , the former Belarusian ambassador to Poland and France, now a member of the presidency of the Council of Coordination established by the opposition.
