President of Constitutional Court of Latvia gets another term in office

Ineta Ziemele has been re-elected as President of the Constitutional Court of Latvia on Wednesday, May 6.

Six justices voted for, while one was against.

Ziemele was nominated for the post by Sanita Osipova, Vice-President of the Constitutional Court, as the only candidate. 

Due to the state of emergency to limit the spread of Covid-19, the elections were conducted in a remote video conference format.

Ineta Ziemele has been in the office as President of the Constitutional Court since May 8, 2017. Sanita Osipova has been in the position of Vice-President since May 16, 2017, according to court information.
