U.S. ambassador talks San Diego with Rīga mayor Burovs

Take note – story published 4 years ago

Riga mayor Oļegs Burovs met with recently-intstalled United States Ambassador to Latvia John L. Carwile December 16 with the sun-kissed Californian city of San Diego on the agenda.

"During the meeting both parties shared their personal work experiences. The parties discussed cooperation between the local government and the state in solving various issues," a notably non-specific release from the city council said.

"The Ambassador noted that he was following current events both in the country and in the capital of Latvia, stressing that the embassy and its staff are residents of the city, who are also concerned about the city's problems and economic issues, and therefore called for mutual cooperation," the statement continued in the broadest possible terms.

However, one concrete fact did emerge: "Riga is currently actively cooperating with the United States city of San Diego, California."

"Thanks to this cooperation, various cultural projects are being implemented, and young architects of the city of San Diego are getting acquainted with the Art Nouveau architecture of Riga," the statement said.

À propos nothing, San Diego Zoo has some great webcams, though this was mentioned by neither party.
