You can see the lists of candidates, the pre-election programs, and the information on candidates on the CVK website.
For comparison, the previous Saeima elections four years ago saw 16 lists with 1,461 deputies. Nineteen lists were last recorded in 2006, the 9th Saeima elections.
CVK Secretary Valdis Verners said in an interview with Latvian Television that the large number of candidates' lists is probably related to the fact that parties that will overcome the 2% barrier will receive state funding. The CVK head Kristīne Bērziņa also previously indicated that there will be more competition for seats in the Saeima this year than in previous parliamentary elections four years ago.
Of the total of 1832 candidates, 63.7% or 1167 are men, 36.3% are women.
12 of the existing deputies will not participate in the Saeima elections in the autumn, according to information available on the CVK site.
In order to make sure that all candidates submitted in the list comply with the requirements of the Saeima Election Law and do not have the restrictions on candidacy specified in the Saeima Election Law, the lists shall be transferred to the Office of Citizenship and Migration Affairs, the Information Centre of the Ministry of the Interior and the Totalitarianism Consequences Centre after registration of the lists.
After registration, the lists of candidates may no longer be withdrawn.
The next parliamentary election in Latvia, to decide the composition of the 14th Saeima, will take place on October 1, 2022, when 100 members of parliament will be elected for the next four years. More information about the Saeima elections is available from the CVK website: https://www.cvk.lv/en
