Anti-graft office to look into Memory Water's possible hidden campaign

Take note – story published 5 years ago

Latvia's anti-graft office, the Corruption Prevention and Combating Bureau (KNAB) will examine whether the advertisements of Memory Water, a controversial seller of "structured" water that supposedly increases "bio-energy" levels, don't contain hidden political campaigning.

That's what Amīlija Raituma, a KNAB representative, told Latvian Radio August 31.

She told Latvian Radio that there are indications that part of Memory Water advertisements can be considered to be hidden campaigns.

"Third parties can do [political campaigns] as well, but it can't be worth over €6,540," she said.

People on Twitter in particular have pointed out that some Memory Water advertisements contain the words "We should begin with ourselves!", which isn't a far cry away from slogans of the KPV LV party.

One Memory Water advertisement even repeats a KPV LV slogan verbatim (the 5:30 mark).
