In the process of adopting the 2023 budget, the Prime Minister said that, with the necessary changes in the health and education sectors, the expenditure of all ministries would have to be reviewed in order to find additional funding for the implementation of the commitments made in the government declaration and legislation in these sectors.
"The state budget for this year has now been adopted. Both the Minister for Health and the Minister for Education and Science have committed themselves to making major changes in health care and education so that both systems are more efficient and able to provide quality and accessible services to our citizens, namely the planned leveling of hospitals and the consolidation of the school network,” said Kariņš. “In order to find additional funding for both of these priority sectors, I have asked all ministries to review the expenditure forecast in the implementation of the budget, to collect information from the Ministry of Finance, and to submit a report on the reallocation of additional funding in 2023 for the health and education sector,” said Kariņš.
The Prime Minister's resolution provides for sectoral ministries to prepare information on the economies of expenditure created during the State budget implementation process of 2023 by May 26 and a review of the funding allocated in 2023 in order to provide the health and education sectors with the funding needed to implement the commitments made in the government declaration and legislation.
On the other hand, the Ministry of Finance should prepare an information report on the reallocation of additional funding for the health and education sectors by June 16.
