The State Chancellery is expected to provide administrative and technical support to the CVK, the Finance Minister Arvils Ašeradens (New Unity), Edgars Tavars, Chairman of the Saeima faction of the United List, and Deputy Chairman of the Saeima Jānis Grasbergs (National Alliance), told the media on Monday.
Ašeradens said that constitutional rights experts had indicated that it would not be right to implement the intention of transferring the CVK under the supervision of the Saeima, as urged previously by the President Egils Levits.
The CVK is currently so financially and organizationally weakened that it may not be able to hold elections to the European Parliament next year in Latvia.
The issue of securing the CVK's stronger position in public administration was also raised because politicians in recent years have not been particularly supportive of the CVK's requests of all the necessary funding.
