Latvia's overseas ambassadors are getting together on home ground this week for their annual comparison of notes and discussions on how best to coordinate their efforts.

The heads of Latvia’s diplomatic missions and representations to international organisations, as well as Latvian ambassadors residing in Riga will be enjoying each other's company from 25 to 27 October.

"The meeting will focus on the role of the Foreign Service in the promotion of economic development. The ambassadors will have an opportunity for discussing current issues with a number of businessmen and public officials. The meeting will also include an exchange of views on current developments in foreign and security policy and Latvia’s priorities in these areas, and the role of diplomatic missions in preparation for Latvia’s centenary celebrations," a statement by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said.

The ambassadors will also meet with President Raimonds Vējonis; Saeima speaker Ināra Mūrniece, Prime Minister Māris Kučinskis and various ministers and civil servants.

Then they'll round it all off with a reception in Jurmala before returning to their posts in all corners of the globe.
