Estonia kicks off its European Union presidency

Latvia's northern neighbor, Estonia, launched its six-month presidency of the council of the European Union on June 29-30.

Speeches, press conferences and concerts marked the beginning of the presidency, which will see Estonia host various meetings and other events.

Latvia held the presidency during the first half of 2015 and it was generally acknowledged as a success, even managing to come in under budget. You can re-live those golden days at the official website, which is still available in archived form.
