Harmony just hangs on to top spot in latest political poll

The latest party ratings show that the popularity of the long-time rating-topping "Harmony" ("Saskaņa") party continues to decline.

The most recent monthly survey commissioned by LTV and conducted by the research agency SKDS in September shows that if the Saeima elections took place tomorrow, only 10.2% of respondents would vote for Harmony. Compared to the July survey, the popularity of Harmony has decreased by a third. Nevertheless, it remains the most popular single party.

Second place is held by another opposition party, the Greens and Farmers' Union (9.8%), while third place is taken by Development/For! (7.6%), which in allince with the "Progressives" party topped the Riga City Council elections at the end of August.

Fourth place is taken by the New Unity party of Prime Minister Krišjānis Kariņš (6.6%), with the National Alliance (6.2%) in fifth and the New Conservatives (6.1%) in sixth.

No other party was able to muster the 5% support required to win seats in Saeima and, as ever, the most popular options among voters were 'Don't Know" (22.4%) and "No intention of voting" (18.7%).
