Stoltenberg told LTV that the NATO Rapid Reaction force, termed Spearhead, is in the process of implementation and that the situation regarding Russia's increased aggressive military posturing is being "closely watched" by the alliance, but that he perceives "no imminent threat" to the Baltic region's security at the moment.
He also indicated NATO's efforts to make "inter-operable" military coordination with non-NATO members Sweden and Finland, which have also been facing provocative Russian armed forces encounters in the Baltic sea and airspace near their borders.
