120 members of the Harmony party from Rēzekne, Rēzekne municipality, and Ludza municipality decided to leave the party on Tuesday, February 7, Rēzekne Mayor Aleksandrs Bartaševičs told Latvian Television.

Bartaševičs held a meeting with his former party members from Rēzekne, Ludza and Balvi on Tuesday evening to decide jointly on future political action. “We have decided to leave Harmony,” said Bartaševičs.

Rēzekne Mayor Bartaševičs, who was expelled from the Harmony Party on Monday, February 6, plans to establish a new left-of-center party within the next two months. Cooperation with Daugavpils Mayor Andrejs Elksniņš, who withdrew from Harmony in late January, is possible.
