MEPs join international delegations

The European Parliament in Strasbourg Thursday approved MEP’s chosen assignments to its list of international parliamentary delegations.

Of Latvia’s eight MEP’s, newcomer Iveta Grigule will have the most delegation seats. She will be working as a member of six delegations (for relations with Belarus; Israel; the countries of the Arab Peninsula; the United States; EU-Kazakhstan, EU-Kyrgyzstan and EU-Uzbekistan Parliamentary Cooperation Committees, and for relations with Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Mongolia; Euronest Parliamentary Assembly for the Eastern Partnership), as well as a substitute on four others (EU-Armenia, EU-Azerbaijan and EU-Georgia Parliamentary Cooperation Committees; Federative Republic of Brazil; People's Republic of China; India).

Next in number of delegations comes Artis Pabriks, who has joined the delegations for relations with the countries of Central America; and the Euro-Latin American Parliamentary Assembly. He will substitute on the delegation for relations with Japan.

The rest of Latvia’s MEPs will each work as a member on one delegation, with roles also as substitutes.

Andrejs Mamikins will work on the delegation for relations with Belarus. He will sub on the delegation for relations with EU-Kazakhstan, EU-Kyrgyzstan and EU-Uzbekistan Parliamentary Cooperation Committees, and for relations with Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Mongolia.

American-born Krisjanis Karins will take a seat on the delegation for relations with the United States, while subbing for the EU-Armenia, EU-Azerbaijan and EU-Georgia Parliamentary Cooperation Committees, and the Euronest Parliamentary Assembly.

Sandra Kalniete has chosen the delegation for relations with the countries of Southeast Asia and the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), but will substitute at the EU-Ukraine Parliamentary Cooperation Committee and Euronest Parliamentary Assembly.

Valdis Dombrovskis will work on the delegation to the Africa-Caribbean-Pacific-EU (APC-EU) Joint Parliamentary Assembly while subbing on the delegation to the EU-Kazakhstan, EU-Kyrgyzstan and EU-Uzbekistan Parliamentary Cooperation Committees, and that for relations with Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Mongolia.

Roberts Zile will serve on the delegation for relations with the People's Republic of China and sub on both the EU-Chile Joint Parliamentary Committee and the Euro-Latin American Parliamentary Assembly.

Tatjana Zdanoka will sit on the EU-Kazakhstan, EU-Kyrgyzstan and EU-Uzbekistan Parliamentary Cooperation Committees, and on the delegation for relations with Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Mongolia. She will be a substitute member of the delegations for relations with Belarus and the Euronest Parliamentary Assembly.
