The new coalition will have 31 votes in the 60 seat Riga City Council and will be made up of councilmen from Honor to Serve Riga, Harmony, the For Riga bloc that split from Harmony and independent councilwoman Baiba Broka, who was formerly of the National Alliance.
The vote came in the early hours of Saturday morning after a lengthy debate that started the previous day. The vote was originally scheduled for Thursday, November 28, but the meeting did not take place due to the lack of a quorum.
However, with ongoing scandals at municipal-owned businesses including Rīga transport and the central market, it seems unlikely the new coalition will prove much more stable than the previous one, which in fact was quite similar.
